ChatFrom

Browser extension

Updated

The ChatFrom Web Clipper adds the page you are on to one of your chatbots in one click, so it can answer from it. It is for Chrome, and connects with an API key from your ChatFrom account.

1. Install it

  1. Open the ChatFrom Web Clipper in the Chrome Web Store and press Add to Chrome.
  2. Pin it: press the puzzle piece beside the address bar, then the pin beside ChatFrom, so its icon stays in the toolbar.

2. Connect your account

  1. In ChatFrom, open Account in the sidebar and find API keys for AI agents. Name a key after this browser, such as Chrome on my laptop, press Make a key and copy it. It starts with cf_ and is shown once.
  2. Click the ChatFrom icon. The first time, press Allow access, so the extension may talk to chatfrom.io.
  3. Paste the key under API key and press Connect.

3. Add a page

  1. Open the page you want your chatbot to know, such as a help article, a policy or a product page.
  2. Click the ChatFrom icon, choose the Chatbot, and press Add this page.

ChatFrom reads the page from the open web itself, the same as Website under Knowledge, so a page behind a sign-in cannot be added. Adding a page again brings in its changes, and a page that has not changed costs nothing. Adding knowledge uses your monthly credits, as in the dashboard. The page then shows in the chatbot's Knowledge with the others.

What it can see

  • Only the address and title of the tab you are on, and only when you click the icon. The address goes to ChatFrom when you press Add this page.
  • Your key stays in the browser and goes only to chatfrom.io. Disconnect removes it from the browser; deleting the key on the Account page stops it working at once, wherever it is.
  • It reads nothing else you browse, and runs no code from elsewhere. The privacy policy says what ChatFrom keeps.

To add a whole site at once, use Website under Knowledge, which finds its pages for you. To add pages from a workflow, see n8n.
