Google Sheets
Your chatbot adds a row to a Google Sheet for every lead, booking or request: what the visitor gave, under your own columns. Setting it up takes about a minute: you sign in to Google, and ChatFrom makes the sheet for you.
What it does
- Collects the details: when a visitor wants to be contacted, asks for a quote or books something, the chatbot asks for what your columns name, such as their name and email.
- Confirms them with the visitor once, then adds one row for that request.
- Fills in the rest: the date, and a link to the conversation in your dashboard, so you can read what was said.
It only adds rows. It never reads a row back to a visitor, and it cannot change or delete one.
Connect it
- Open your chatbot and go to Tools. Under Connections, tap + on Google Sheets.
- Press Connect Google and sign in with the Google account the sheet should live in. Google asks for one permission: the files you use with this app. Leave it ticked.
- ChatFrom creates a new spreadsheet in your Drive, named after your chatbot, and switches Add rows to the sheet on. The card shows the sheet, with a link to open it.
- Try it in the Playground: say "I'd like someone to call me about pricing", give a name and an email, and look at the sheet.
Your columns
The sheet starts with Date, Name, Email, Phone, Message and Conversation. The columns are simply the sheet's first row, so you arrange them in Google Sheets:
- Add a column, such as Company or Budget, by typing its heading in row 1. The chatbot asks for it from the next conversation.
- Rename, move or remove a column the same way. Each value lands under its own heading, wherever the column is.
- Date and Conversation are filled in for you when the sheet has them. Remove them if you do not want them.
After a change, press Reload columns on the card to see it there. Keep the headings in row 1 of the tab ChatFrom made; you can rename that tab, move it, and add tabs of your own beside it. New rows go after the last row that has anything in it.
When a row is added
On the card, Add a row when says it in your own words, for example "a visitor asks for a demo". The chatbot follows it: it does not add a row for a question it can simply answer, and it adds one row for one request.
If your chatbot can also hand off to a person, a request to be contacted is saved to the sheet, not handed off. It hands off as well only when the visitor needs a person in that conversation, or when it cannot help.
In a workflow, the ready-made path Save a lead sends those messages straight to the step that saves them, and a Tool Call step can name sheets_add_row itself.
What stays safe
- ChatFrom can open only the spreadsheet it created. It cannot see your other sheets, documents or files.
- Your sign-in is stored encrypted and is never shown again, to you or anyone else.
- What a visitor types is saved as plain text, at most 1,000 characters to a cell, so it can never run as a formula in your sheet.
- One conversation can add 5 rows an hour and your chatbot 120, and the same details are saved once, so nobody can fill your sheet.
If you delete the sheet in Google Drive, the chatbot stops saving and offers visitors a hand-off, and the card says so: restore the sheet from the Drive trash and press Reload columns, or connect again for a new one. To stop, switch Add rows to the sheet off, or press Disconnect. The sheet stays in your Drive with its rows. To remove ChatFrom from your Google account as well, open your Google Account's connections and remove it there. What else a chatbot can connect to is on the Connections page.
