ChatFrom: frequently asked questions

Updated

Short answers to the questions people ask most about ChatFrom: plans, cancelling, teams, agencies, channels, accuracy, data and getting help.

Is there a free plan or a free trial?

Yes. The Free plan costs nothing, needs no card and has no time limit. It includes every feature, with 50 answer credits a month (about 50 answers on the default model) and 10 MB of knowledge. On the Free plan, conversations are deleted 14 days after their last message. Pro ($29 a month) and Business ($49 a month) give 7,000 and 20,000 credits.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. A card is needed only when you buy Pro or Business.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Plans are monthly, with no minimum term and no notice period. Cancel in the Stripe billing portal from Billing in the dashboard; it takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for. When a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted for 30 days.

Can several people on my team use one account?

Not yet. Several people cannot share one ChatFrom account. Your team can still receive hand-offs and call-back requests by email or Slack, and work them in your own inbox, Slack or help desk.

Can I build chatbots for my clients, as an agency?

Yes. Every plan allows unlimited chatbots, each with its own knowledge, behaviour, tools and channels. Business ($49 a month, 20,000 credits) suits agencies running chatbots for several brands. The "Powered by ChatFrom" line stays on every chatbot; there is no white label.

Can I remove the "Powered by ChatFrom" line?

No, it stays on every plan.

Can I use my own OpenAI or OpenRouter key for answers?

Not for answers: answers use your plan's credits, which cover the model costs. Your own OpenRouter key is used only for evaluations, so testing costs you provider prices and no credits.

Does ChatFrom have a help desk or live chat inbox?

No. ChatFrom is an AI front line, not a help desk. When a person is needed, it hands the conversation to your team by email, Slack, the Crisp inbox, or one of your own actions that opens a ticket in your help desk. If you use Crisp, your team can write in the same chat and the chatbot steps aside.

Can it answer phone calls, SMS, Messenger or Instagram?

No. ChatFrom answers on your website, a share link, inside your own app, and in WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Crisp and email.

Does the chatbot make things up?

Much less than a general chatbot, because it answers from passages of your own documents and says when none fits. It is not perfect: if two of your pages disagree, it may quote the wrong one, which is why you can see the source of each answer, read every conversation, and fix weak answers with Fix this.

Do I need to train the chatbot?

No. Nothing is trained. You add sources, and each question looks them up. When a page changes, add it again and the next answer uses the new text.

Can the chatbot do things, not only answer?

Yes. It can look up Shopify orders and request returns, show or cancel Stripe subscriptions after the customer proves their email, add leads to Google Sheets, book meetings in Cal.com or Calendly, take call-back requests, hand over to a person, and call your own API or MCP server.

Does it work on my website builder?

It works on any website where you can add a script tag, which most builders allow. You paste one line before </body>. You can also share the chatbot as a link, without a website.

Can I set ChatFrom up from Claude Code or Cursor?

Yes. ChatFrom has an MCP server for AI agents. Make an API key under Account, add one line to your agent, and ask it in plain words, for example to make a chatbot from your website's help pages and put it live. See chatfrom.io/help/ai-agents.

Can the chatbot sit as a bar across my page instead of a bubble?

Yes. Under Deploy, choose Input bar as the launcher: a bar of frosted glass across the foot of the page, on the left, in the center or on the right, that visitors can type into straight away.

Can I hide the sources under answers?

Yes. Turn off Show sources under answers under Deploy. Visitors then get the answers alone, on your site, the share link and in chat apps; you still see the sources in Conversations.

Can I use ChatFrom inside my own product?

Yes. Inside your signed-in app, the widget can carry a token your site signed for the user, so the chatbot acts for that user through your own MCP tool server, and only on their account.

Can I use ChatFrom for my own team, not customers?

Yes. An internal assistant answers your team from your handbook and HR system, in Slack or on an internal page, and opens a ticket when a person has to decide.

What happens when I reach my monthly credits?

The chatbot pauses until the allowance starts again on the first of the month (UTC), or until you upgrade. You are never charged past your plan.

Is my data safe? Where is it kept?

In Frankfurt, Germany, on every plan: the app, the engine and the database. Each chatbot's knowledge is kept apart. Nothing is used to train models. Secrets for your connections are stored encrypted. The data processing agreement is part of the terms.

Who can see the conversations?

You, the account owner, in your dashboard under Conversations. Visitors see only their own chat.

Does the chatbot remember returning visitors?

It can. With the Memory tool on, it remembers what a person told it before, in chat apps, and on your website when Remember returning visitors is on (which needs the visitor's consent in the EU).

How do I get help?

Read the guides at chatfrom.io/docs, or write through chatfrom.io/contact or to rouzbeh@deadpixelstudio.io. The founder answers within two working days, usually sooner.

What is new in ChatFrom?
