Getting started with ChatFrom
Updated
Every step from signing up to a live chatbot, how long it takes, what the dashboard looks like, and where to get help.
How do I sign up?
Go to chatfrom.io and press Start free. You sign in with a link sent to your email address; there is no password. The Free plan needs no card.
How long does it take to set up a chatbot?
A few minutes for a first chatbot, with no call and no technical knowledge: sign up, add a document or your website's address, say how it should talk, and paste one script tag on your site. Connecting Shopify, Stripe, Google Sheets or a calendar takes a few more minutes each, and each has its own guide in the docs at chatfrom.io/docs.
What are the steps, from a new chatbot to a live one?
- Create a chatbot. On the dashboard, press New chatbot and give it a name. The name is just for you. A new chatbot starts as a draft: only you can talk to it, inside the dashboard, until you put it live.
- Add your knowledge under Knowledge: files, your website, pasted text, or questions and answers.
- Shape how it answers under Behaviour: its instructions, personality, language, what it says when it does not know, and topics it declines. The Need help? button writes the setup for you from a short description of your business.
- Choose the model under Model. Each model shows how many credits an answer uses and roughly how many answers a month your plan gives with it. The default, GPT-6 Luna, is a good start.
- Connect your tools under Tools, if it should act: hand-off to a person, call-back requests, memory, Shopify, Stripe, Google Sheets, Cal.com, Calendly, your own API or an MCP server.
- Draw your customer flows, only if you need them, under Workflow. Most chatbots never need this step.
- Try it. Press Try it at the top of any chatbot page and ask the questions your customers ask.
- Put it on your site under Deploy: list your allowed domains, choose its look, paste the script tag, and press Go live.
- Add chat apps under Channels: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, email or Crisp.
- Watch it and improve it under Conversations, Analytics and Evaluate.
Steps 1, 2, 3 and 8 are enough for a working chatbot. The Overview page has a checklist that ticks itself off as you go.
What does the dashboard look like?
Each chatbot has its sections down the left side: Overview at the top, then Knowledge to Evaluate in three groups (Build, Launch and Improve), and Settings near the bottom. Account and Billing are in the sidebar too.
Can an AI agent set it up for me?
Yes. ChatFrom has an MCP server, so an AI agent such as Claude Code or Cursor can create a chatbot, add your website to its knowledge, write its instructions, try it and put it live. Make an API key under Account, add one line to your agent, and ask it in plain words. See Building a chatbot from an AI agent at chatfrom.io/help/ai-agents.
Can I have more than one chatbot?
Yes. Every plan, Free included, allows unlimited chatbots. The monthly credits and the knowledge size are shared by all of an account's chatbots.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Everything is set up in the dashboard. Code is only needed for the optional developer features: calling your own API, connecting an MCP tool server, or letting the chatbot act for users signed in to your own product.
Where can I get help setting up?
The step-by-step guides are at chatfrom.io/docs: Getting started, a guide for each channel and each connection. For anything else, write through chatfrom.io/contact or email rouzbeh@deadpixelstudio.io. The founder answers within two working days, usually sooner.
