Tools and connections in ChatFrom

Hand-off, call-backs, memory, Shopify orders, Stripe subscriptions, Google Sheets leads, Cal.com and Calendly bookings, your own API and MCP.
What are tools?
Knowledge lets a ChatFrom chatbot answer questions. Tools let it do things: check an order, book a meeting, change a subscription, save a lead, or pass the conversation to your team. The chatbot decides by itself when a conversation needs a tool, and every use shows in the conversation log. Visitors see only which tool is at work, never what it was sent or what it found. Tools are set up under Tools in the dashboard, and are included on every plan.
Which tools are built in?
- Hand off to a person: when a customer asks for a person, the chatbot passes the conversation to your team by email, Slack or a ticket, with the transcript. When it cannot help, it offers to, and does once the customer agrees. Hand-offs go to a new email address once someone at it has confirmed the link ChatFrom sends; until then they go to the address you sign in with.
- Callback requests: a customer can ask for a call back at a time when you take calls; you set those hours. Requests are listed at the top of Conversations, and you are told by email or Slack.
- Memory: the chatbot remembers what a customer told it before, so they do not repeat themselves. It only remembers people it can recognise: in chat apps, and on your website when Remember returning visitors is on.
Can ChatFrom connect to Shopify?
Yes. Connect your store under Tools with an app you create in Shopify's Dev Dashboard, which takes about ten minutes. Customers can:
- Ask about an order: the chatbot asks for the order number and the email the order was placed with, then gives the payment and delivery status, the tracking link and a link to the order's page.
- Ask for a return: it confirms which items and why, then sends your store a return request, which you approve or decline in Shopify. The chatbot never refunds anything.
Orders from the last 60 days can be looked up, or all of them once Shopify grants read_all_orders. Both the order number and the email must match, a conversation can look up 10 orders an hour, and repeated misses pause lookups, so nobody can guess their way through your orders.
Can ChatFrom manage Stripe subscriptions?
Yes. Connect Stripe with a restricted key, which takes about five minutes. Once a customer proves their email with a 6-digit code the chatbot sends them, they can see their subscriptions, cancel one at the end of the period they paid for, undo a cancellation, or get a link to Stripe's billing page to change their card or see invoices. The chatbot cannot refund, charge or change a plan; those stay with your team. A test key works on Stripe's test data, so you can try everything first.
Can ChatFrom save leads to Google Sheets?
Yes. Sign in to Google under Tools, and ChatFrom creates a spreadsheet in your Drive named after your chatbot. When a visitor wants to be contacted, asks for a quote or books something, the chatbot asks for what your columns name, confirms once, and adds one row, with the date and a link to the conversation. You add or rename columns in the sheet itself. ChatFrom can open only the spreadsheet it created, never your other files, and it only adds rows.
Can ChatFrom book meetings?
Yes, with Cal.com or Calendly. The chatbot offers the free times of the event types you tick, in the visitor's time zone, asks for their name and email, and books the time they choose. The visitor gets Cal.com's or Calendly's own confirmation email, with links to move or cancel. Your working hours, buffers and limits stay those of your calendar. On Calendly's Free plan, Calendly does not let apps book, so the chatbot gives a link to that exact time on your Calendly page with the details filled in, and the visitor confirms there.
Can the chatbot call my own API?
Yes, with custom actions. You describe one of your own HTTP endpoints once: its name, a description for the model, the method and URL, its parameters, and any headers such as an API key. The app makes the call for the chatbot, so your key never reaches the model or the visitor, and a saved header is never shown again. A Test button calls it with sample values.
Does ChatFrom support MCP?
Yes. If your product runs an MCP server, add its address under Tools and name the tools the chatbot may use; nothing else on the server is shown to the model. On your website, the widget can pass the token your site signed for the signed-in user, so your server knows who is asking and acts on that account and no other. In chat apps, users link their account once to get the same.
What connections are coming?
HubSpot is coming soon: a new contact for every lead the chatbot takes. Notion and Google Docs are coming as knowledge sources. To ask for another service, write through chatfrom.io/contact.
Do tools cost extra?
No. Tools are on every plan. A tool call is part of an answer and uses that answer's credits.
